Session will highlight massive sports video archive on Ceph
(Santa Clara, Calif., Feb. 9) — Platina Systems, the infrastructure management provider that makes it easy to run a modern, cloud-like infrastructure on-premises, today announced that it will be presenting at the upcoming Ceph Days NYC event.
The session will highlight how Platina worked with a large professional sports league to build a multisite 40 PB active archive housing decades of game video and audio assets. The project — built on Platina Command Center and Ceph, the most mature and proven software-defined storage platform in the industry — empowered the league to completely transform its archives without the complexity typical of large-scale storage migrations.
“The data held within the video footage is extremely important, but it was impossible for the league to extract that value from tape, and the complete archive’s total cost of ownership was prohibitive at scale,” said Frank Yang, co-founder and CTO, Platina Systems. “Platina and Ceph provided the flexibility, durability and cost control the league needed to truly unlock the value of its data.”
Platina at Ceph Days
At Ceph Days NYC, Platina will share how it built a low-cost, operationally efficient and highly durable multi-site storage platform with the ability to scale to hundreds of petabytes. Powered by Ceph, the platform will enable the league to create an active archive and easily apply analytics to its data.
The event also features speakers from IBM, Intel, CERN, Bloomberg and more.
Ceph Days NYC, taking place Feb. 21 in New York, is a full-day event dedicated to sharing Ceph’s transformative power and fostering the vibrant Ceph community. To register, visit: https://go.bloomberg.com/attend/invite/ceph-days-nyc.
